iPad Reviews

Fishtropolis
On May 1, 2012, I rented an iPad from the library. The homework was to pick two apps from the iPad and play with them. I am then supposed to write a review about these two apps. The first app I chose is called “fishtropolis”. This app is a game where you take the name of a fish, and find words out of the name once they scramble the letters. After you submit the word; it will give you the definition of the word. I think this is a great game for students to use because it helps them with their spelling. It also helps them out with the meanings of different words. I would use this in my classroom because this game is fun and educational at the same time. I had a lot of fun with this game.
Kids Math
The other app I chose is called “kids math”. Now I did not download this one; it was already on the iPad when I got it. This game is where you either add or subtract fruit. There are numbers on the fruit at the top of the screen; then the fruit get counted out on the screen. If the equation is subtracting; an X goes on the ones that they are getting rid of. All the students have to do is count out the fruit and then pick the star that has the right number. I would use this game in my class because it is fun, and it helps the students with their adding and subtracting. This game was a lot of fun, and it was addicting as well. This game is very educational. I had a lot of fun using the iPad. I want an iPad so bad. I would recommend everyone using an iPad.

Political Cartoon Worksheet

Name: Rebecca Sausen                                                            Date: 4/30/12

 EDITORIAL CARTOON ANALYSIS

1. What is the event or issue that inspired the cartoon?
-The man is reading the newspaper, and there is a bunch of holes in the paper. He asks his wife to let him read the paper first before she cuts the coupons out.

2. Are there any real people or places in the cartoon? If not, what images are portrayed in the cartoon?
-No real people in this cartoon. The image is a man and a woman in a house. You see the man sitting in the chair, and you see the woman standing right beside him.

3. Identify the specific artistic techniques used in the cartoon (i.e., symbolism, analogy, exaggeration, labeling, and irony). What is the artist trying to show the reader by using these techniques?
-Symbolism-The symbol is the man and woman in the picture. Also the paper symbolized that there were coupons in the paper until the woman cut them out.
-Analogy-The analogy is the man and woman saving money by using coupons as apose to people who don't use coupons to save money.
-Exaggeration-The exaggeration is the number of coupons clipped out of the newspaper.
-Labeling-The are no labels in this picture.
-Irony-The irony is that the picture is trying to make you think about saving money by using coupons.
-The artist is trying to show people that you can save money by using coupons.

4. What is the cartoonist's point of view about the topic portrayed in the cartoon? Give examples to support your interpretation.
-The point of view is that saving money by using coupons is a good thing to do. They show that by the man reading the newspaper and seeing all in holes in it. It also shows it by him asking his wife to wait till after he reads it, and then she can cut them out.

5. Is this cartoon persuasive? Explain why or why not.
-I think that it is persuasive by showing us that there are people who still use coupons today, and that it helps when it comes to saving money.

6. What other techniques could the artist have used to make this cartoon more persuasive?
-The artist could of had the woman say something like, "I can't wait because I only have so long until the coupons expire."

Best and Worst Web Quest Our Group Discussed

The Best
Grow School Greens-it was creative and it allowed them to work in groups
We All Scream for Ice Cream-it allowed the students to really work together in their groups.

The Worst
Where is my hero?-it felt like the students were working individually and not in groups.
Ancient Egypt Web Quest-it did not have a lot of pictures, and it did not have a lot of color in it so it made it look like a boring project.

WebQuest

Strengths

Weaknesses

Grow School Greens
This project is good because it asks some good questions for people to find out about vegetables.

I feel that this could be more of individual work because each person can pick a different vegetable, and answer the questions. The group may not come together to reflect on what they found out.

Where is My Hero?

This project is good because it has the groups discuss their finding with each other.
Yet again each group member gets an individual hero to find information on.

Underground Railroad
The group discussion part is good. I really like this project that they picked for students to do.

This project seems to be more of an individual project.

Ice Cream

This is a really good project because it has the groups work together on this project. They do not have an individual task; except for filling out the worksheet individually, but that is only to evaluate each person. It is also used to make sure each person is doing the work.
I would have to say that there are absolutely no weaknesses on this project.

Ancient Egypt
This is a really good project because it has the groups work together; not individually.

I thought that the instructions could be a little better for the students to understand it.

Double Entry Journal # 11

3 thing I learned

1. Teaching is very messy.
2. Teaching is always about something. The video uses the example 'content' meaning the material that teachers teach their students.
3. I learned that "quality of teaching is  the transformation of content". That basically means that teachers take the information and transform it in a way that students will understand the information.

I like this video. I really liked that one person was talking, and the other was texting information to the screen. Some of the information was really funny, and it made the presentation interesting to watch.

Scratch Cards
The two scratch cards I used were the change color and the interactive whirl.

For me, this project was a little hard because I couldn't figure out how to make everything work. Now that I have my scratch project complete; I really do like it. I would recommend my students using this scratch project because it would help them show who they are in a creative way. It would also show me that they have an understanding of how to use a project like this. It was fun once I figured out how to make everything work.

Double Entry Journal # 10-Sewing the Seeds for a more Creative Society

Quote:

"Sucess is based on not only what you know or how much you know, but on your ability to think and act creatively".

Reason:

I chose this quote because I absolutely agree with this quote. For one thing, you can know a lot of stuff. The thing is you may know it but how much do you remember down the road. Like taking a test; you know all the information, but you will forget it after you take the test. By putting work out there that is very creative, that will show people that you will be able to come up with ideas outside of school. By becomeing a creative teacher; than you can teach your students how to come up with creative ideas, and put those ideas in the real world. Being creative is awesome, and more people are becomeing creative because that is what society wants now a days.

Link:

I chose this video because it shows that young children know how to use scratch to create games and different things in a creative way. I chose this because it talks about scratch in the article I read. Using scratch helps students come up with ideas about different things. Scratch is a wonderful tool to use, and it should be used throughout the schools.

Double Entry Journal # 9-10 Things Schools Can Learn From Video Games

Quote:

"Therefore it can be argued that in video games, failure is good as it helps facilitate alternate solutions to problems."

Response:

I chose this quote because I agree with what it says. Failure is good because then you can try again, and see if you can come up with a better way of doing that same thing. In video games, when you fail at something then the game will usually let you redo that same thing, and come up with a better way of doing that thing. An example that I can think of is the game Mario. I know Mario really has nothing to do with school related information, but it has to do with my point about failure. So, lets say that you are on level 6 and you die. Now since you have lives left; you will be able to go back to level 6, and try again to win that level. You can improve yourself when you fail. People do have failures in their lives, and that will never change because by failing, you actually learn.

Link:

I found an article called "Video games help schools get kids moving, exercising more". This article is all about how video games help students be more active in their life. In the first few paragraphs, it talks about a specific school that played video games everyday before they get started on their work. I chose this article because I wanted to show that there are schools who use video games as a learning process. It is good to use video games to help students learn in a creative way.

Wikipedia Worksheet

Wikipedia Reliability Worksheet
Article title: Dachshund
Answer the following questions to see how reliable a Wikipedia article is.
  1. Start with the main page. Does it have any cleanup banners that have been placed there to indicate problems with the article? (A complete list is available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Template_messages/
    Cleanup
    .)
Any one of the following cleanup banners means the article is an unreliable source:

This article or section has multiple issues. No
This article may require cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. Yes
The neutrality of this article is disputed.
Yes
The factual accuracy of this article is disputed.  Yes
This needs copy editing for grammar, style, cohesion, tone or spelling.
Yes
This may contain material not appropriate for an encyclopedia. No
This article only describes one highly specialized aspect of its associated subject.  Yes
This article requires authentication or verification by an expert. No
This article or section needs to be updated.
Yes
This article may not provide balanced geographical coverage on a region.
Yes
This is missing citations or needs footnotes. No
This article does not cite any references or sources.  No
  1. Read through the article and see if it meets the following requirements:

Is it written in a clear and organized way? Yes
Is the tone neutral (not taking sides)? No
Are all important facts referenced (you're told where they come from)? Yes
Does the information provided seem complete or does it look like there are gaps (or just one side of the story)? Yes

  1. Scroll down to the article's References and open them in new windows or tabs. Do they seem like reliable sources? (For help in determining the general reliability of a source, check out the Knowing What's What and What's Note: The 5 Ws (and 1 "H") of Cyberspace handout.)

    Reliable references:

    Possibly unreliable references:

Definitely unreliable references: I clicked on one of the references and it took me to a site that barely had information on it.

  2. Click on the Discussion tab. How is the article rated on the Rating Scale (Stub, Start, C, B, GA, A, FA)? What issues around the article are being discussed? Do any of them make you doubt the article's reliability?
There is no discussion tab on this Wikipedia site.

  1. Based on the above questions, give the article an overall ranking of Reliable, Partially Reliable or Unreliable.
    • You may use a Reliable article as a source (but remember that even if a Wikipedia article is reliable, it should never be your only source on a topic!)

    • You may use a Partially Reliable article as a starting point for your research, and may use some
of its references as sources, but do not us it as a source.

    • You should not use an Unreliable article as a source or a starting point. Research the same topic in a different encyclopedia.
How did you rank this article (Reliable, Partially Reliable or Unreliable)? Give at least three reasons to support
your answer.
This is not a reliable source because there is not discussion tab so I don't know

how they rank this Wikipedia site, the references are not reliable, and it looks like anyone

can just edit it anytime they want to.

Wikipedia Homework

How a Ragtag band created Wikipedia

3 things I learned
1. Wikipedia is more popular than the New York Times.
2. Wikipedia has 90 servers in 3 different locations.
3. Wikipedia has a neutral point of view policy.

2 things I agreed with
1. I agree that the Wikipedia site is the most popular site around.
2. I agree when Jimmy Wales said the Wikipedia is not perfect.

1 thing I disagreed with
I disagreed with the fact that Jimmy Wales said that Wikipedia is a pretty good site to use. I disagree with that because you have these volunteers, who probably don't know much about the topic, creating these wikipedia sites. Actually what I have heard people say is that anyone can edit Wikipedia, and make it say anything the person wants it to. I feel that Wikipedia is not a reliable source.

Wikipedia Pretty Accurate But Hard to Read
I was very surprised after I read this because it says that the cancer information is written better than the cancer information in a medical article. The article also says that Wikipedia made a lot of mistakes on the cancer information. It says that the Wikipedia workers made the information better. The article says that people can understand the information a lot better on the Wikipedia page. All in all, I am just surprised because I believe that Wikipedia is not a reliable source.

4 Ways to Use Wikipedia Never Cite It
I can honestly say that I have NEVER used Wikipedia in my research papers. I will say that I have never thought to use Wikipedia in the ways they describe in this article. With that being said, I still will probably never use Wikipedia in my research papers.

Double Entry Journal # 8-Wikipedia

A. What is Wikipedia?
-Noam Cohen said, about Wikipedia, "It is a multilingual, Web based encyclopedia project, operated by Wikimedia foundation, a nonprofit organization". Basically it means that anyone who has access to Wikipedia can talk about any kind of subject.

B. How would you answer the question posted in this piece "How reliable can a source be when anyone can edit it?"?
-I would say that the source is not reliable because people, who probably doesn't know about the certain subject, can just go on Wikipedia and say anything about the subject. Anyone can just say anything about a certain subject, and no one can do anything about it.

C. Who do the creators of Wikipedia place their trust in when it comes to weeding out misinformation?
-When it comes to detecting misinformation, the creators of Wikipedia place their trust in a tool called Wiki scanner. This scanner takes the IP addresses from the anonymous editors, and figures out if their work is creditable or not.

D. Why did founder Larry Sanger leave Wikipedia?
-Larry Sanger left Wikipedia because he believed that Wikipedia should give more authority to experts. He left and created his own website called "Citizendium That Does Just That".

E. What would abuse and vandalism look like on a Wikipedia page?
-There will be abuse and vandalism pictures on the page. It would talk about the meaning of abuse and vandalism. It would also have pictures of something that has been abused and something that has been vandalized.

F. What do statistics quoted in the third paragraph of this piece reveal?
-The statistics show that Wikipedia has become a very popular site. It shows that more and more people are using it everyday.

G. Why do you think Wikipedia is so successful?
-I think that Wikipedia is so successful because people are able to edit the information and say anything they want to.

H. Why might Wikipedia's creators not want to accept advertising?
-The Wikipedia's creators do not want to accept advertising because the advertising would take away from the Wikipedia site. It would clutter up the site, and it would make people focus more on the advertising than the site.

I. How does Wiki scanner help increase the reliability of Wikipedia entries?
-The Wiki scanner helps the Wikipedia creators help determine if the entries are creditable or not. It used the IP address of the anonymous editors and then it sees if their entry is creditable.

Double Entry Journal #7-Words Failed, Then Saved Me

Quote:
"One day, the teacher, who seldom spoke to us since it was understood that most of what she taught was beyond the reach of our intelligence, placed books in our hands and whispered that we should sit there quietly 'pretending to read'. The principle was coming".

Response:
I chose this quote because I was shocked at the teacher telling the students to just pretend to read. It is amazing to me that back then; teachers did not have the resources to help students who have learning problems. This quote makes me feel that the teacher did not care about the students. It is a good thing teachers have enough resources now to help students with learning disabilities.

Link:

I chose this video because it show a teacher who is familiar with students who have dyslexia. The teacher talks about how to teach dyslexic students. I feel that this is a good video because the teacher gives good information on how to teacher students with dyslexia.

Technology is everywhere in the world. It is mostly used in the classroom. Technology can help students with dyslexia see and hear different words. There are computers that have an application that can help students hear the words. There are games that students can play to help them learn how to spell and pronounce different words. When working with microsoft word; the student can hightlight a word that they do not know, and highlighting it can help them see it clearly. By doing that; they can learn how to spell the word, and asking someone to say the word can help the student say the word as well. Technology is all over the world, and it is never going to go away.

I found an article called "A Dyslexic Child in Dyslexia the Classroom". The article shows step by step information on how to help dyslexic students. It says that teachers need to understand that a dyslexic student has a hard time reading, writing, and spelling. It also says that dyslexic students have a hard time remembering directions that a teacher gives the students. I hope that when I become a teacher; I will be able to help all my students understand the material I am teaching them.

Website Evaluation

Free Forever Dog Island

Why?
1.      Has someone taken responsibility for the content of this web site?

-NO

2. Is information about the author or organization clearly stated?

      -NO

3. Are there any links to in-depth information about the author or organization?

-There is a link called contact information. This link is basically information on how to reach the island workers.

What?
1.      Is emotion used as a means of persuasion?

-YES, it talks about how the dogs will be at ease because they will be away from stress.

2.      Is the information well written and easy to understand?

-YES

3.      What’s the copyright status of material found on the site?

-Copyright © 2003-2010

When?

1.      Is it important that the information you’re looking for be absolutely current?

-It really depends on what you are looking for. When it comes to history stuff, it is good for things to be current and old. Now, say you are looking at a law that was created; it is good that the information be current because laws can change over the years.

2.      Is a reference date provided to show when the material was put online, or when it was last updated?

-There is nothing telling me when the material was put online or when it was last updated.

3.      Do the links work?

-YES, all of the different links work.

Where?

-This website is a .com website. "According to the five W’s and one H website, . com means that this website is a commercial organizations website" (5 W’s and 1 H).

How?

1.      How can you tell what’s what?

-In this website, it is so easy to tell what is what. There are links on the top of the website that say FAQ’s, facilities, photos, ext. Just by looking at the website, it is easy to see all the different components, and it is easy to tell what is what.

I chose a website called “Free Forever Dog Island”. It is about an island where dogs stay. I found out that the creditability is not that great. First of all it does not have an author. Since there is no author, there is no explicit information about the author. The information is written so people can understand it. The different links work really well. It does have a copyright date. I just have a hard time believing that this site is creditable.

Voki # 3

On my last voki, I would have to say that there is nothing I would change about my statement. It took me THREE vokis to get all of my reflection on here. I enjoyed this assignment, and I hope that when I become a teacher; I will use the vokis as a way for my students to express themselves.

Voki #2

As I read the words out loud and heard them from this voki; I noticed that I say students know what they want to be when they grow up a lot. My editing here would be to remove some of the quote of mine "Students know what they want to be when they grow up". I say it a lot in this voki.

Voki #1-Reflection from task stream

This is my first voki. So far the only thing I would change is trying not to studder when I am talking.

Double Entry Journal #6-Teaching Media Literacy

Media Literacy Skills and Traditional Literacy Skills

Both media literacy skills and traditional literacy skills have common qualities. Media literacy means that you are able to read and look up information on the computer or any other technological device. Traditional skills means that you can read and look up information in a book. Both of them have a relationship because you can read and find information from both.

Quote:

" By integrating elements of digital media literacy into students' instruction, teachers can influence how well students critically assess content, both online and offline".

Reason:

I chose this quote because I agree with the statement. By having students post their reflection or their answers on the computer; the teacher is able to access them. Since teachers are able to access them; teachers can see if the students are understanding what they are reading. It is also nice for students to use the computer, so that way they can communicate with the teacher and other students. By using the computer, students are also able to find information for any other project they have to do in school. Schools now a days have to have access to the internet. Students will at least have one assignment, if not more, that deal with computers. Years from now, computers will still be in use and that will never change.

Link:

I found a web article called "Digital and Media Literacy: A Plan of Action". This article is an overview of a book called Digital and Media Literacy: A Plan of Action. It talks about how there is a plan for digital and media literacy. I chose it because I thought it showed that there is a plan out there for students using digital and media literacy.

Double Entry Journal # 5

1. What is the difference between media in education vs media literacy education?

There are differences between media in education and media literacy education. The difference is media in education is used to entertain students, and to teach students information they need to know to suceed. An example would be the TV. The TV is ther to show movies on, and those movies could either entertain or be informative. Media literacy education is where the students learn how to read, write, and communicate with others. An example would be the computer. Although the computer is used for find information on; it is also used to teach students how to write better, be a good reader, and to have good communication skills.

3. Why is fair use more important today?

It is important today because it is really hard for people to get a copyright license and sometimes those liscense are unavailable.

5. A teacher shows a movie of The Lion King and asks students to notice how the animals in the movie reflect racial stereotypes? Is this fair use? Explain.

Yes this is fair use becuase the students are not getting any money out of answering this question. As long as they site where they got the information; they are ok for fair use.

6. Which principle relates most strongly to the digital story you created in class? Explain.

Principle four:Student use of copyrighted materials in their own academic and creative work. Our digital stories are pictures put together to tell a story. These pictures have a meaning of what kind of teacher we want to be. We shared our videos by putting them on Youtube. People are able to view them whenever they want to.

10. What common myth about fair use surprised you the most?

Myth: If I'm not making any money off it, it's fair use.(and if I am makng money off it, its not). I did not have any idea that it is not fair use if you make money off of any media project.

Double Entry Journal # 4- The World of Digital Storytelling

Quote:

"As the technology becomes more powerful, their stories become weaker, illustrating the truth of the saying 'What happens when you give a bad guitar player a bigger amplifier?'"

Response:

I agree with this quote. There are students who do not know how to use digital stories program. If they do not know how to use it; then how can they make a really good digital story. You have to learn how to use the technology before you make the story. You can not just go to the digital story website and just automatically be able to make a story. The quote uses the example about giving a bad guitar player a big amplifier. That basically means that the guitar player will sound so much worse if he or she has a big amplifier. It is the same with digital stories. They will turn out bad if the student does not know how to use the digital story program. So it just goes to show that students need to learn how to use something before they use it.

Link:

This is a picture of a cover of a book all about digital storytelling. I chose to use this picture because it shows that there is a book out there that can help students learn how to make a digital story. Once students know how to use a digital story program; they can make a story that is maybe informative or they make a story that is about their life. Students can have fun with their stories, and it is a good way to have the students learn in a fun and creative way.

Imagining Change

A teacher asked her third grade class to think of anything changing in the world. The students really had no idea how to answer that question. She first tried by giving the students some examples, but that didn't really seem to help. So she decided to go to a construction site every day and take a picture of the site. She then would put the picture up on the projector and ask the students to observe what was similar and what was different about the pictures. She would give them examples on the pictures, and then she would have them write down what the students thought were similar and different about the construction site. After she realized that the students were comprehending the similarities and differences; she decided to create an account on a photo website so that she would be able to put new pictures on the website. The students would be able to get onto the site and comment on the photos, and talk about what was similar and what was different about the picture. The student's parents were able to be involved in the students observations. This idea is very helpful because the teacher was able to help the students observe their surroundings. Now when a teacher asks about change in the environment; the students will be able to answer the question.

Learning Styles and Preferences

Do learning styles exist?
-Yes they do exist. Every person who goes to school has a different way of learning. There are people who learn the same way, but most people learn differently. Knowing what is the best way for you to learn will help you in the long run. It will be useful for you when it is time to take a huge test because by using you own individual learning style you can study they way you need to.

Are they useful for classroom instruction?
-They can be useful but they can also not be useful. Learning styles can be useful for the students because they know exactly what type of learning style they have, so they can use that style in their studying. Learning styles are also not useful because it is very hard for teacher to use every learning style in their teaching. Learning styles are in a way complicated.

What is the best philosophy for using learning styles?
-Once you have figured out what learning style you have, use the style to the best of your ability. When teachers or instructors are figuring out what type of learning style students have; the teachers and the instructors need to talk to students individually and not in groups. Talking to students in groups; it might not show they best conclusion on what type of learning style their students have. Examine each student individually; and also teachers can try to come up with a way to teach the students with their different learning styles.

Double Entry Journal # 3

Are Digital Media Changing Language?
Quote:

"Besides amplifying the linguistic "whatever" attitude, computers and mobile phones are instrumental in a second attitudinal shift—a change in the degree to which we control our linguistic interactions."

Reason:

I chose this quote because I believe in what it is saying. When we text we have a control over what is said in the text. We also have control over if we want to talk to a certain person on the phone. We have the power to do whatever we want on the phone. People can be really mean at times. If they are saying something rude in a text message; we have the power to ignore them, or to let them know that they are being really hurtful in the message. If we don't want to talk to someone; we don't have to. When we have the phone in our hand; we are in control of whatever happens on the phone.

I chose this video because it show how kids are changing with all different kinds of digital media.

"David Crystal, the author of “Txtng: The Gr8 Db8,” told me in an e-mail message that “there’s nothing in texting to suggest spelling reform,” noting that texting relies heavily on abbreviations, which he sees as creative stylings, not systematic improvements."

Response:

I agree 100% on what David Crystal is saying. Texting does not teach students how to spell words corectly. The texting abreviations actually can confuse students when it comes to texting. Students could accidently take those abreviations and put them into a report that they are writing. That would be a major hurt on their paper if they use words like: Gr8, g2g, or lol. Those kind of word are good in texting but not in learning how to spell. I actually think that abreviating words like that can also hurt the student. Those words could get into the students mind so much that everything they write out they could accidently use those abreviations in their work that is very important for school. Students have to be careful when it comes to writing because they are so used to abreviating in texting.

As I said in my above comment, text messaging is affecting how the students spell. I found an article called The GR8 Spelling Revolution: Texting's Impact on the English Language. It talks about how texting is affecting out students ability to spell because they are exposed to the text messaging lingo.

Picasso Head of Me

My Picasso of me shows that I do not just have one learning style. I like to read out loud because I like to hear the words, so I am an auditory learner. I like to see pictures or sculptures because I like to see what I am learning, so I am a visual learner. I took the learning style quiz and it said that I was a Kinesthetic learner. I am not exactually sure what that means. I try to learn in as many different ways as I can because I like to know excatly what kind of learner I am.

Double Entry Journal # 2- Learning Styles

Quote:

"The school pad helps increase the interaction level among students and also the interaction between students and the teacher."

Reason:

I chose this quote because I had no idea what a school pad was. I agree with this statement in a way that it is nice for the students and the teacher to interact with each other. They need to have a way to communicate with each other, so that way the teachers can help the students with any problems they have. The students can also talk to other students and ask them to look over their assignment; to make sure that it is done right. The school pad is a nice tool for schools to have.

Double Entry Journal # 1- Technology

Quote:

"And above all, we must stop disparaging digital prowess just because some of us over 40 don’t happen to possess it. "

Response:

I chose this quote because I believe exactly what the quote says. Teachers are discarding technology because they themselves do not know how to use the technology. Education is opening up more to new technology, and now older teachers and new teachers have to learn how to use the technology. There should be some kind of way that once the new technology makes it to the schools; everyone in the schools can learn how to use the technology. The growth of technology will never change.

Information about me

My name is Rebecca Sausen. I was born in Morgantown, WV. I moved to Cumberland, MD when I was four years old because my dad was transfered for work. I want to become a teacher because I love to work with kids. My major is elementary education, and I want to be a kindergarten through sixth grade teacher. I want my students to learn in a creative way. I would put together different activities at different stations, and all the students will be in groups going to each station to learn about something different. I hope that when I become a teacher; my students will want to learn everything that I am teaching them.
